The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has reaffirmed her commitment to curbing corrupt practices and resolving irregularities in housing and pension for civil servants through digitalization.
Mrs Walson Jack made this known at the quarterly Stakeholders and Citizens Engagement Forum, attended by various representatives from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Pension Commission in Abuja on Friday.
According to her, the Office of the Head of Service is working assiduously to ensure that corruption is brought to the barest level.
Emphasizing the role of technology in enhancing transparency and accountability in the civil service, the HOCS assured that issues surrounding the housing and pension will be addressed in a couple of weeks.
For the pension, Mrs. Walson-Jack noted that discussions were ongoing about the possibility of introducing gratuity for pensioners, indicating a commitment to improving the pension system.
Referencing her recent meeting with the Director General of National Pension Commission (PENCOM) and the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), she stated, “We are working seriously to look at the issue of introducing gratuity and that process would require careful consideration.
“We will also be inviting FHA for a meeting so that we can discuss this and really go to the root of it”.
The HOCS urged the stakeholders and all civil societies to collaborate with FHA to tackle the key challenges affecting the housing.
She emphasized that as the FHA continues to address these critical challenges, stakeholders are hopeful that these initiatives will lead to significant progress in housing, anti-corruption efforts, and pension reforms.
“We look forward to a successful conclusion of those deliberations”, Walson-Jack concluded, underscoring the FHA’s dedication to enhancing the lives of citizens through improved housing and pension systems.
