The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully foiled a bandit attack against farmers in Nteng village, Deomak District, Qua’ran-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The squad, operating in conjunction with the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police, mounted a joint guard operation to restore peace and stability in the area.
According to Commandant AS Dandaura, the communities had been plagued by repeated attacks, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of farm crops, and displacement of over 4,000 farmers.
A statement on Friday by CSC Afolabi Babawale, NSCDC public relations officer, said the attacks had also led to the destruction of a Primary Health Care Hospital and other properties.
The NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, had directed the Special Intelligence Squad to set up an intelligence-driven operational mechanism to forestall further attacks. The joint operation has restored confidence among civilians, allowing them to safely return to their homes.
The NSCDC has also deployed its Agro Rangers Squad to provide security for farmers, promote unity between herders and farmers, and prevent further attacks. The Commandant General has assured the people of safety, particularly in communities like Doop, Keolakan, Jepmorop, and Gorom in Nteng village, where valuables were damaged or carted away.
The NSCDC commends the effective coordination and relentless efforts of the security agencies involved in the operation, ensuring the safety of the people and their properties.
