The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the passing away of its Edo State Commandant, Agun Gbenga.
In a statement on Friday by CSC Afolabi Babawale, NSCDC’s National PRO, the Corps said the late Commandant collapsed after delivering a goodwill message at an event organized by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center in Benin City.
According to the statement, Agun Gbenga was immediately rushed to the Military Base Hospital in Benin, where he was later pronounced dead.
“It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing away of the Edo State Commandant, Agun Gbenga”.
The NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, described the late Commandant as an astute and iconic security expert who gave the best of his service to enhancing the security of the nation.
Prof. Audi said late Gbenga’s dedication, humility in service, and intelligence earned him so much respect and admiration amongst his fellows.
“The NSCDC wishes to condole with his family members at this critical time, knowing fully well that the death of Commandant Agun Gbenga is a monumental loss to the NSCDC and the nation at large.
“We pray that God will grant the Corps, his family, and his friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, he prayed.
