The Federal Ministry of Steel Development is set to host the maiden National Steel Summit from July 16 to 17, 2025, at the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre in Abuja.
Themed “Rebuilding and Consolidating Nigeria’s Steel Industry: Collaborative Action for Sustainable Growth and Global Competitiveness,” the summit aims to revive Nigeria’s steel industry and position it as a cornerstone of the nation’s industrialization and economic development agenda.
Briefing the press at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja, on Thursday, the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will declare the summit open.
According to him, the event will bring together key stakeholders to assess the industry’s current status, explore investment opportunities, identify policy and infrastructural needs, and adopt a consensus way forward for the sector’s revival and sustainable development.
He said the Summit will feature technical sessions, exhibitions, panel discussions, and an executive parley, focusing on critical areas such as resuscitating legacy steel projects, competitive industries, logistics infrastructure, energy supply, and a robust legislative framework.
The Minister emphasized that the summit aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, marking two years of its implementation.
“It will provide an opportunity to share the Renewed Hope vision, highlight milestones achieved, and gather feedback from stakeholders”, he concluded.
Earlier, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Chris Osa Isokpunwu highlighted the Summit’s objective to unite stakeholders in charting a bold and sustainable future for Nigeria’s steel sector.
