… Emphasises Free Skills Training
The Federal Government has announced the commencement of applications for admission into Federal Technical Colleges nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to free technical and vocational education for Nigerian youths.
The announcement was made by the Federal Ministry of Education following approval by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen technical education, widen access to practical learning, and equip young Nigerians with employable and industry-relevant skills.
According to the Ministry, registration for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Technical Colleges will open on Monday, January 26, 2026, and close on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted nationwide on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Prospective candidates are required to complete their applications online through the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng.
The Ministry emphasised that possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is compulsory and remains a key requirement for successful registration.
The Federal Government reiterated that education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded upon admission, highlighting its focus on youth empowerment, human capital development, and improved national productivity.
Admission is open to candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 years. Parents, guardians, and applicants have been advised to strictly comply with all application guidelines and to obtain information only from official channels of the Federal Ministry of Education and designated examination bodies.
The Ministry reaffirmed its resolve to expand access to free, quality technical education that promotes self-reliance, supports economic growth, and contributes meaningfully to Nigeria’s sustainable development.
