Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been urged to deepen the use of digital tools to enhance innovation, efficiency and service delivery within the Scheme.
The Acting Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of NYSC, Mr. Kwaghe Joseph Vandi, made the call on Wednesday during a capacity-building workshop for LGIs held in Abuja.

Vandi said the training highlighted the NYSC’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for discipline, accountability and operational efficiency in the administration of corps members.
According to him, in an era driven by digital transformation and data-based decision-making, the NYSC cannot afford to remain static amid global technological advancements.
He noted that initiatives such as the NYSC Integrated System (NIS), monthly biometric clearance and other ICT-driven platforms had significantly improved transparency, accountability and efficiency in the Scheme’s operations.
“The success and sustainability of these innovations depend largely on our Local Government Inspectors,” he said.
Vandi added that the workshop was a strategic investment in human capital aimed at equipping participants with the digital skills and competencies needed to effectively navigate the NYSC ICT framework.
Also speaking, the Director of Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mr. Omotade Ayodele, urged the participants to uphold integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He said LGIs must remain firm, visionary and empathetic while serving as ambassadors of the Scheme in their respective duty stations.
Participants at the workshop included the NYSC State Coordinators for Benue and Nasarawa states, as well as zonal and Local Government Inspectors from the two states.
