The Honourable Minister of Works, David Umahi, has inaugurated the Accommodation and Transportation Committee for the forthcoming 2026 National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as preparations intensify for the party’s major gathering.
The inauguration, which took place on Tuesday in Abuja, marks a key step toward ensuring smooth logistics and coordination for the convention expected to bring together party leaders, delegates and special guests from across the country.
The committee is structured to oversee critical logistical arrangements, particularly in the areas of transportation and accommodation. Senator Umahi will chair the transportation component, while the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, will head the accommodation arm.
Both committees are expected to operate as sister structures, working closely together to ensure seamless movement and lodging for participants attending the convention.
Members of the committee were formally inaugurated during the ceremony held on March 10, 2026, where they were charged with the responsibility of coordinating travel arrangements, hotel bookings, room allocations, and overall operational support throughout the duration of the convention.
Speaking at the event, Umahi stressed that efficient transportation and accommodation are central to the success of any large political gathering.
According to him, proper coordination of movement between hotels, airports and the convention venue will be crucial in ensuring that the event proceeds without disruptions.
“Our leaders and special guests must be properly accommodated. Transportation between hotels, airports and the convention venue must be well coordinated. When these logistics work smoothly, the convention proceeds seamlessly. When they fail, even the most carefully planned event can be disrupted,” he said.
The minister expressed confidence in the committee members, noting that their experience and commitment would help deliver a successful convention for the ruling party.
“I am confident that with the experience, commitment and leadership represented in this committee, we will work together to ensure that the APC 2026 National Convention is conducted in an organized, efficient and successful manner,” he added.
Formally inaugurating the committee, Umahi declared that the committee on transportation and accommodation had been constituted pending the official separation of the two units.
The APC National Convention is expected to attract a large turnout of party stakeholders from across Nigeria.
