The President General (PG), Anambra State Town’s People Association (ASTPA) in Abuja, Chief Arinze Anadu (Nwachinemelu) has commended the Senate for recommending the immortalization of late Rt. Hon. Agunwa Anaekwe, former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives
ASTPA explained that the late lawmaker who is an illustrious son of Anambra state, made them proud, as a Speaker, adding that it will serve as motivation to others in position of authority.
The Association’s PG made the remarks during a press conference in his office, in Abuja, over the weekend.
Sir Anadu praised the late Speaker’s legacies during and after his tenure as Speaker, noting that the Senate’s decision to immortalize him is a testament to his good work.
“If Chief Agunwa Anaekwe didn’t do well, while alive, the Senate wouldn’t have hesitated to refuse him the recognition,” Anadu said.
The ASTPA President urged today’s leaders and the led to prioritize selflessness and put God first in all their dealings, just like the late Speaker. “We must learn from the late Speaker’s legacy and strive to lead with integrity and selflessness,” Anadu emphasized.
The Senate’s move to immortalize Anaekwe is a fitting tribute to his contributions to Nigerian governance.
The recommendation is expected to be implemented by the Federal Government, ensuring that Anaekwe’s legacy is permanently honored.
Recalled that Senator Victor Umeh, from the deceased’s Anambra Central Senatorial District had sponsored a motion last Wednesday during a plenary in the Senate and co sponsored by other Senators that the late Speaker be immortalized, among other pleas, and all the pleas were strictly adhered to by the Senate.
