
Following the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, the members of the Plateau State House of Assembly have expressed confidence in the leadership capacity of the new Party chairman.
The lawmakers noted that they have absolute confidence in Prof. Yilwatda due to his character and personality as well as his academic prowess, adding that with such the Plateau-born APC national chairman is more than capable to lead the Party.
The members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Gapyil Daniel, stated this during a solidarity visit to the APC National Chairman at the Party’s National Secretariat, on Tuesday.
“Our coming here is a testament to your character and personality, no doubt, we know with your academic prowess you are able to lead the Party.
“We know that God, who has brought you to this house, is able to give you all the necessary wisdom, capacity to be able to handle all the issues that will come with leading our great Party”, Rt. Hon. Daniel said.
Inspiring Prof. Yilwatda to succeed, the Speaker stated, “One thing I want to tell you is that a Plateau man has never failed, and we know you will never fail. The Plateau man is a man that holds pride in his dignity. He celebrates honesty and integrity.
“And we know that for Mr. President to have considered you for this position, the trust is something that still leaves a lot of us to imagine how much of a burden that is being placed on you.
“But it is our confidence that having seen your track record, where you are coming from, and where God has placed you to be, honestly, we have every confidence that you are able to do everything and handle every challenge, every hurdle that will come your way”.
While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding a Plateau-born indigene worthy of such coveted position, the Plateau lawmakers assured the APC National Chairman of their unwavering support.
Prof. Yilwatda, in his response charged the lawmakers, particularly the Speaker to galvanize support for President Tinubu in Plateau State and its environs come 2027 as a show of solidarity for him.
“Mr. Speaker, I want to see you in campaigns, I want to see you standing behind me and demonstrating the capacity of Plateau State, teaching them how it’s being done. That’s what you can help me do and stand to be counted in all the activities. Plateau State is the centre of all the ethnic nationalities and minorities in the North”, he added.
