The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive education by announcing the provision of free application documents for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) seeking to sit for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, made the disclosure in the Scheme’s weekly bulletin, on Monday, February 2, 2026, during a meeting with critical stakeholders at the Board’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
He explained that the initiative is part of the Board’s sustained efforts to ensure equal access to tertiary education for all candidates, regardless of physical or cognitive challenges.
According to Prof. Oloyede, the free application documents will be processed through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), as has been the practice in previous years.
The scheme is designed to support candidates living with various forms of disabilities who aspire to pursue higher education.
He stated that beneficiaries of the initiative include, but are not limited to, individuals living with Down Syndrome, Autism, Dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
“To support persons living with disabilities, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of candidates with disabilities,
“However, such candidates must possess at least five O’Level credit passes obtained in not more than two sittings to qualify” the registrar stated.
In addition to waiving application fees, Prof. Oloyede announced that JAMB will provide audiobooks for blind candidates sitting the examination.
He explained that the audiobooks are digital adaptations of conventional printed materials and will be made available in widely supported audio formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA to ensure compatibility across audio-enabled devices.
The Registrar emphasized that the initiative underscores JAMB’s broader commitment to the welfare of Persons with Disabilities and its resolve to remove barriers that may hinder their academic aspirations.
