Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has represented the country at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) in Seville, Spain.
The Minister reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to financial inclusion and economic empowerment, highlighting efforts to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), particularly those led by women and youth.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister launched the Green Guarantee Group (GGG), emphasizing Nigeria’s commitment to green financing and sustainable development goals.
Tuggar also engaged in high-level bilateral meetings with international partners. He met with the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) to discuss collaboration on job creation and SME growth in Nigeria. Both parties agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide interest-free loans and support for small businesses.
Moreso, in a separate meeting with Sweden’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tuggar sought Swedish technical expertise for Nigeria’s tax reform policy and solicited support for Nigeria’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2030-2031 term.
