The Honourable Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako has directed a full investigation of the viral video where a staff of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abuja claimed that the Centre lacks adequate manpower and consumables.
Spark News Naija reports that a video of staff of FCM, claiming that the medical centre lacks adequate manpower and consumables to attend to an accident victim who was rushed to the emergency unit by a passerby has gone viral on social media.
Consequently, the Minister has directed that the incident be investigated and the findings of the investigation be made available to the public.
The management of the hospital made this known while disclosing the findings of its preliminary investigations on the incident.
In a statement by Obadiah N.K. Gana, FMC’s Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Medical Director, on Sunday, the management said the emergency department had an adequate supply of medical consumables, including latex gloves, contrary to the claims made in the video.
It further said it has initiated a thorough investigation to uncover the facts surrounding this incident, adding that its preliminary findings show that there was no shortage of patient transfer equipment, including trolleys and wheelchairs.
According to the statement, interaction with staff on duty & other stakeholders is currently ongoing and pledged to provide a full report of the investigation once it is completed.
