The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in River State, Tony Okocha has reacted to the alleged insult by AriseTV presenter, Reuben Abati on Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory FCT.
Spark News Naija recalls that Reuben Abati was reported to have referred to Wike as rude while on air.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Okocha noted that though a journalist can have his personal opinion on a matter, it’s absolutely wrong for a journalist to take sides while on air.
He said condemning a serving Minister and referring to him as rude on air was wrong and unprofessional of him.
“Journalists do not take sides in a matter, but he (Reuben Abati) took side and condemned a serving Minister saying he was rude. That wasn’t nice at all. I’m sure he would have regretted the use of that word.
“You can hold your own opinion but not while on air, to say that a serving Minister is rude. I won’t go that way, because I have seen so many arguments, responses and replies in that direction.
The Honorable Minister’s office had responded. Many analysts have responded, and so it’s not my business so much to respond to it, but to say that the outburst was very, very wrong and unprofessional”, he stressed.
