Ahead of the 2025 West Africa Economic Summit (WAES), which will be held at the Abuja International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar has given a hint about the possible outcome of the Summit.
According to the Minister, the Summit is a landmark event that promises to shape the West Africa region’s economic future.
Addressing a pre-summit press conference on Monday in Abuja, Amb Tuggar emphasized the Summit’s objectives to include establishing a harmonized trade policy framework, mobilizing resources for critical infrastructure, and promoting inclusive economic growth.
He stated that WAES would feature a range of activities, including a Presidential Roundtable, CEO Forum, WAES Deal Room, and West Africa Business Expo.
The Minister stated that this year’s Summit is a significant step towards regional integration, aligning with the ECOWAS vision of a borderless and economically integrated West Africa.
Amb. Tuggar affirmed that the Summit provides a platform for business-to-government and business-to-business transactions, unlocking new opportunities for economic growth and development.
He mentioned that the event would showcase the region’s rich creative energy, ingenuity of youth, and investment-ready SMEs.
According to him, with WAES 2025 Nigeria is poised to play a leading role in shaping West Africa’s economic future, demonstrating its commitment to regional integration and economic development.
Spark News Naija reports that the Summit, scheduled for June 20 – 21, 2025 will bring together leaders, policymakers, and business executives to discuss pressing economic challenges and opportunities.
