The Abuja Legend Metro Lions Club, on Thursday 26th June, 2025, took its community service and humanitarian work to Kubwa general hospital, an outstretched of the Federal Capital Territory FCT.
As part of its signature project, signaling the end of a Lion’s year on 30th June, 2025, the Club offered free cataract surgery for four people and distributed care items, including food items to patients in the wards.
Speaking with journalists at the event, President of the Abuja Legend Metro Lions Club,
Ln Deborah Matthew Pukuma said the Club is about rendering humanitarian services to the less privileged in the society.
According to her, creating awareness on taking care of our eyes, diabetes, cancer, and a lot other things forms an integral part of its community services and humanitarian works.
“Today is our signature project, because we are ending the Lion’s year on the 30th of June, so today we are doing cataract surgery for people that could not afford to pay for it. And also, feeding the hungry – giving the children and patients little provision just to assist them as a show of love from the Club”, she stated.
In her message to the society, Ln Deborah urged FCT residents and Nigerians at large to take proper care of their eyes to avoid vision loss.
“My message to Nigerians is for us to take care of our eyes, especially through regular checkup because early detection of any of these eye conditions is the key to preserving your vision”, stressed.
