The National Universities Commission (NUC), has presented a Certificate of Recognition to the Ebonyi State University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering, which implies full approval and autonomy for the institution.
The certificate was presented by the Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, to the State
Governor Francis Nwifuru at a ceremony held at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Ribadu said the recognition underscores the Ebonyi State Government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, saying, “We must commend your visionary leadership and dedication to educational progress for the people of Ebonyi State.”
According to him, the establishment of the University is not merely a response to societal demands, but a proactive step towards shaping the future of our nation in the global aerospace industry.
He highlighted the crucial need for quality education in the fields of aviation and aerospace technology, emphasizing the University’s role in preparing the next generation of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
The NUC boss added that a copy of the Certificate of Recognition will be forwarded to the key educational bodies, including JAMB, NELFund, NYSC, and TETFund, to facilitate students’ participation in their constitutional duties.
“With this NUC recognition, the Ebonyi State University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering is poised to make a lasting impact on the educational landscape and contribute significantly to the development of Nigeria’s aerospace sector”, Prof. Ribadu assured.
In his remarks, the Ebonyi State Governor, represented by his Deputy, Patricia Ubila, said though the University is the 69th state university and 300th overall in Nigeria, it will emerge one of the leading universities in Nigeria in the nearest future.
“Though we may be the last now, in the future, we will be the first”, she said, assuring that the Ebonyi State University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering will make the NUC and Nigeria proud.
