Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s body arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport in Katsina around 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, aboard a Nigerian Air Force flight from London.
The remains were received by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, and his deputy Faruk Lawal Jobe.
The flight carried notable dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum. International leaders in attendance included Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and Niger Republic’s Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine.
Former Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu were also present.
Businessmen Aliko Dangote, Sayyu Dantata, and Dahiru Mangal joined Katsina House of Assembly Speaker Nasir Yahaya Daura and state officials to pay their respects. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu received Hajiya Aisha Buhari at the airport.
After the reception, the funeral convoy proceeded to Daura, where Buhari was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
The burial ceremony marked the end of an era for Nigeria, as Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in London at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.
