The Federal Ministry of Education has issued a strong warning against the spread of false information claiming the cancellation of the 2025 West African Examination Council (WAEC), examinations due to alleged widespread examination malpractice.
In a statement made available to Spark News Naija, on July 20th, 2025, by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Boriowo Folasade, the Ministry confirmed that the 2025 WAEC examinations have been successfully concluded, with only minor incidents of malpractice reported.
According to the Ministry, these incidents were addressed promptly by the appropriate authorities to maintain the integrity of the examinations.
However, the Ministry stated that the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) examinations are proceeding without incident, with no cases of examination malpractice reported to date.
The Federal Ministry of Education emphasized that it has not received any official communication regarding widespread malpractice from WAEC, NECO, or other examination bodies.
The Ministry urges students, parents, school administrators, and the general public to disregard the misleading statements currently circulating online.
“This information is entirely fabricated and aims to create unnecessary panic and confusion,
“Members of the public are encouraged to seek information from verified and credible sources, including:

“The official NECO portal: [www.neco.gov.ng](http://www.neco.gov.ng)
“Verified communication channels of WAEC, NECO, and reputable media outlets”.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity and credibility of public examinations and plans to collaborate closely with examination bodies to improve monitoring and enforcement mechanisms.
The Ministry warns that individuals and entities found disseminating false information will be reported to the appropriate security agencies for investigation and legal action.
