President Tinubu gives national award, cash rewards to Super Eagles players 

President Bola Tinubu has conferred the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honor on the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s victorious women’s football team, in recognition of their outstanding performance at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.

The President praised the team’s exceptional performance, discipline, and dedication, describing their victory as a symbol of national unity and resilience.

He emphasized that the team’s triumph represents the best of Nigerian spirit and womanhood.

As part of the recognition, each team member will receive $100,000 as a presidential reward for their outstanding achievement.

Additionally, the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) has announced a cash gift of ₦10 million to each player and staff member. Each player will also be gifted a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment.

The grand gesture is seen as a boost to women’s football in Nigeria, showcasing the government’s commitment to rewarding excellence and promoting sports development.
