The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has reported an unprecedented response to the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with 69,376 Nigerians successfully registered within the first seven hours of online pre-registration.
The online pre-registration which commenced on Monday, August 18, 2025 had 33,803 (48.7%) males and 35,573 (51.3%) females registered.
Further analysis in a statement by Sam Olumekun mni National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee, on Monday 18th August 2025, reveals that a significant proportion of registrants, 48,033 (69.2%), are young persons aged 18-34.
The online registration portal is available for 24 hours and can be accessed at (https://cvr.inecnigeria.org)
Physical registration will begin on August 25, 2025, at 811 State and Local Government offices nationwide, operating from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
INEC will provide weekly updates on registration statistics and will commence in-person registration at 811 offices nationwide from August 25, 2025.
Guidelines for Registration:
1, Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above who are not registered voters can participate in the CVR exercise.
2, Double or multiple registrations are strictly prohibited and may attract penalties.
3, Inter-State/FCT and intra-State/FCT transfer of voters, as well as replacement of lost or damaged voter cards, are permitted during the CVR.
