The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is in mourning following the untimely passing of Malam Bashir Chedi, a respected Council Member and a prominent figure in the field of public relations.
In a heartfelt statement, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, expressed his sorrow over Chedi’s death, emphasizing the profound impact he had on the public relations community in Nigeria.
The Minister said his departure is not just a personal loss to his family and professional colleagues, but a painful one to the entire Public Relations community in Nigeria.
According to him, Chedi was known for his unwavering commitment to his career, for more than three decades.
Adding that he was regarded not only as a professional ally but also as a mentor to many, bridging generational gaps and exemplifying the values of humility and integrity.
At Dornier Aviation Nigeria, he was the steady voice that represented the company with dignity and excellence.
Speaking further on his achievements before his death, the Minister noted that Chedi’s contributions to the NIPR were paramount, as he dedicated himself to various leadership roles, including positions within the Kaduna State Chapter and the National Council. His recognition as a Fellow of the Institute is a testament to the respect and admiration he garnered throughout his career.
Idris highlighted Chedi’s expertise in crisis management, corporate and government relations, and community development, noting that his warmth and humanity would be remembered just as fondly as his professional acumen.
The Minister conveyed his condolences to the leadership and members of the NIPR, along with Chedi’s colleagues at Dornier Aviation Nigeria, his family, and all who mourn his irreplaceable loss.
In his words “His legacy of service and friendship will remain with us, may Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest and comfort his loved ones” he prayed.
