The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Ministry of Women Affairs towards women Empowerment in Nigeria.
The National Chairperson of NAWOJ, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim made the pledge during a recent visit to the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, at the Women Development Center in Abuja.
Hajia Aisha, in a statement on Sunday, by NAWOJ Secretary, Wasilah Ladan, expressed solidarity with the Minister, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in advancing women’s empowerment and development initiatives across Nigeria.
Highlighting the positive roles Imaan has played in empowering women and children in the nation, she said the earlier agitations was orchestrated to slander the Minister by bittered politicians.
Recalled that on Thursday 11th September 2025, the workers of the Federal Ministry Women Affairs, had accused the ministry of neglecting welfare and failing to provide basic work tools, but the storm took a different turn when the Minister met them at a town hall meeting.
NAWOJ, in partnership with other women’s platforms, has pledged to work closely with the Ministry to amplify the impact of programs and policies aimed at promoting women’s rights, economic empowerment, and social welfare.
The Minister appreciated NAWOJ for its commitment and highlighted the significance of such partnerships in achieving the Ministry’s broader objectives.
While addressing the women leaders, the Minister reaffirmed her loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, noting that the 2025 budget for the Ministry of Women Affairs had reached a record high for the first time in Nigeria’s history.
She also expressed deep gratitude to First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her unwavering dedication to the welfare of women and children.
The Minister further announced plans to hold a “mother of all rallies of Nigerian women” in Abuja, aimed at showcasing unity, resilience, and a renewed collective voice.
The collaboration is expected to drive meaningful change and ensure that Nigerian women have access to opportunities that foster their growth and development.
NAWOJ National Secretary, Wasilah Ladan, confirmed the continued dedication of the organization to supporting women’s advancement in all sectors of society.
The event was attended by important women in the society, including the APC Deputy National Women Leader Hajiya Zainab, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Ginika Tor, and others religious leaders from FOMWAN and WOWICAN.
