JAMB Reschedules Final Assessment Date for Underage UTME Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a change to the final assessment date for underage candidates who took part in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to JAMB, this decision comes in light of several universities’ non-compliance with the submission of outstanding screening scores for such candidates following the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results by the National Examinations Council (NECO) on September 17.

The Board in a statement on Thursday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, emphasized that the final assessment date for the underage candidates has been rescheduled due to compliance issues among various institutions.

JAMB highlighted the defaulting institutions to include:
– University of Lagos (39 candidates)
– Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18 candidates)
– Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15 candidates)
– University of Abuja (12 candidates)
– University of Uyo (9 candidates)
– In total, 135 candidates are impacted by this issue.

The Board said it has officially communicated with the universities involved, urging them to expedite the submission of outstanding screening scores without further delay.

The Board further reminded the universities of their responsibilities in accordance with the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

Public universities are expected to submit their recommended candidates by September 30, 2025, while private institutions have a deadline of October 31, 2025.

It stressed that adhering to these timelines is essential to ensure a fair, transparent, and orderly admission process for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic session.

Spark News Naija reports that this move demonstrates JAMB’s commitment to maintaining integrity in the admissions process and holding institutions accountable for their responsibilities.
