
The Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to effective leadership and enhancing cordial relationships between management and union members.
Lawal made this statement while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) FCT Council, led by its Vice Chairman, Comrade Hillary Okwor.
The Minister emphasized that union members play a crucial role in promoting effective leadership and fostering a positive work environment. He urged the union to serve as a vanguard for various policies and programs aimed at ensuring environmental sustainability.
Lawal assured the union leaders that the welfare of staff would be given utmost priority despite limited resources. He called for more collaboration to ensure peace and progress in the environmental sector.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mahmud Adam Kambari, commended the union executives for maintaining a cordial relationship with the management, attributing it to the Minister’s excellent leadership style.
The NCSU FCT Council delegation expressed appreciation for the Minister’s leadership, citing examples of improved working conditions, such as the purchase of CNG staff buses, payment of allowances, training, and burial expenses.
The union leaders presented excellence awards to the Minister, Permanent Secretary, and directors in recognition of their quality leadership and effective management.
Comrade Hillary Okwor urged other ministers to emulate Lawal’s leadership style, which has fostered a conducive working environment and demonstrated commitment to staff welfare.
