The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack has said the era of missing or misplaced files in the Federal Civil Service is over.
The HCSF stated this during a press briefing on Wednesday, marking the culmination of the Federal Civil Service’s digitalisation drive and the attainment of the Service paperless deadline.
Mrs. Walson-Jack emphasized that the 38 Federal Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments will no longer accept paper submissions through their physical registries.
According to her, all correspondence to the MEMDs will now be sent to the official registry email addresses, which can be found in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation website.
Noting that citizens can now track their correspondence with individual MEMDs through the Federal Civil Service paperless portals.
“So the days of lost, missing, and misplaced files are gone leading to efficient service delivery.
“In simple terms, citizens and international communities nọ longer need to send traditional paper letters with envelopes to communicate with the Federal Civil Service”, she said.
The HCSF revealed that Service has achieved a significant breakthrough in official communications by expanding Government Email accounts since her assumption of office.
She explained that in August 2024, there were 20,000 official email addresses for civil servants but today, over 100,000 official email addresses have been created for public servants on the Govmail platform.
Saying that all civil servants now have official government email addresses to ensure they operate with official email identities for secured, professional, and auditable government at scale.
Walson-Jack stressed that this will strengthen sovereignty over official correspondence, enhance responsiveness across MDAs and reduce reliance on unofficial communication channels.
