The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has called for strengthened collaboration with the Lagos State Government to protect critical transmission infrastructure across the state.
This call was made on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, during a courtesy visit by the management of TCN’s Lagos Region to the Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA).
Speaking during the visit, the General Manager (Transmission), Engr. Mojeed Akintola, underscored the need for inter-agency cooperation to safeguard transmission assets, particularly against encroachment and unregulated developments.
Engr. Akintola explained that the engagement was aimed at deepening institutional ties between TCN and LASPEMA, promoting orderly urban development, and ensuring strict adherence to the rights-of-way of transmission lines and facilities across Lagos State.
In response, the Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, who supervises LASPEMA, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to effective land-use management and enforcement of planning regulations.
Dr. Olumide assured TCN of the government’s readiness to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to preserve designated open spaces, protect public infrastructure, and promote sustainable urban development in the state.
Earlier, the General Manager of LASPEMA, Mr. Daisi Oso, pledged the agency’s full support in preventing encroachment on high-tension corridors, stressing that the protection of such critical infrastructure remains a priority for the agency.
The meeting highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between federal and state institutions in ensuring the safety, reliability, and longevity of Nigeria’s power transmission network.
