The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has commended the ongoing nationwide police recruitment exercise, describing it as orderly, transparent, and vital to strengthening public trust in law enforcement.
Gaidam gave the assessment after receiving feedback from field officers across the country, noting that the exercise goes beyond routine hiring and represents a critical step toward improving the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.

He urged applicants to remain disciplined, law-abiding, and patient throughout the screening process, stressing that integrity and respect for due process are just as important as physical fitness and academic qualifications.
“This is more than recruitment; it is a call to national service,” the minister said, adding that Nigeria requires individuals of strong character who understand the role of security in national development.
The also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 police personnel, describing it as a bold move to address manpower shortages and modernize the force.
According to him, the initiative forms part of broader reforms aimed at building a more professional, accountable, and citizen-focused police system.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to improve training, welfare, and operational support for officers as indicators of a new direction in policing.
Gaidam said the recruitment exercise symbolizes renewed hope for a safer Nigeria, where justice is accessible and the rule of law is upheld.
He called on traditional leaders, community members, and other stakeholders to support the process and encourage qualified youths to participate with patriotism and sincerity.
The Minister emphasized that the ongoing screening exercise reflects the government’s commitment to nation-building, adding that strengthening security remains central to achieving sustainable development across the country.
